A ceremony room that frames every moment

Tall windows pour light across hardwood floors. Ornate white columns line the aisle. Original brick from 1880 warms every photo. The Harlow Exchange gives a small ceremony the presence of a grand one.

Get ready in the private prep room, share a first look by the windows, say your vows with your people close, then step into portraits without leaving the building. Your whole day flows through one beautiful room.

Questions and answers

How many guests fit at The Harlow Exchange?

Up to 50 people at any time, seated or standing. That count includes everyone in the space: guests, vendors, caterers and performers. The 3,700 square foot hall gives 50 people plenty of room to move, mingle and dance.

How far ahead should we book?

Weekend dates go first, so book six to twelve months ahead for a Saturday. Weekday dates often have space with shorter notice. Check open dates on the booking calendar.

Can we bring our own officiant?

Yes. Bring any licensed officiant or marriage commissioner you like.

Can we host a reception here too?

Yes. Many couples hold the ceremony and an intimate dinner in the same room. See micro weddings and receptions.

Can we get ready at the venue?

Yes. The prep room has a Hollywood vanity mirror, seating and a kitchenette, and the morning light makes getting-ready photos glow. Have your hair and makeup team meet you on site.

Is The Harlow Exchange close to Winnipeg City Hall?

Yes, two blocks away. Couples who love the simplicity of a City Hall wedding often choose a private ceremony here instead, then walk the Exchange District for portraits.

How much does it cost?

Rentals start at $275 for one hour, and the hourly rate drops the longer you book: 3 hours is $475, 4 hours is $600, 5 hours is $700, 8 hours is $950 and 12 hours is $1,200. See every rate.

What furniture is included?

Eight white Chiavari chairs, two wooden dining chairs, a bar stool, a gold velvet lounge set with coffee table, an antique chaise, an antique writing desk, a black wooden table and three 6 foot folding tables. For more seating, we share a list of rental partners once you book. See everything included.

Can we serve alcohol?

Yes. Private events that serve alcohol in Manitoba usually need a Social Occasion Liquor Permit from the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba. Your caterer or bartender can help you apply.

Can we play music?

Yes. Two Bluetooth speakers are included: a JBL speaker and an XL rolling party speaker with LED light rings. Planning a DJ, live band or dancing? Tell us when you book and we will confirm the details for your event.

Can we use candles?

Open flames, including candles, need written permission first. Flameless LED candles are welcome any time and look lovely against the brick at dusk.

Where do guests park?

Several public lots sit within half a block of 70 Albert Street. Street parking is free for two hours on Saturdays and free all day Sunday. The venue is two blocks from City Hall and a short walk from Portage and Main, with transit nearby.

Is the venue accessible?

The Harlow Exchange is on the second floor of an 1880 heritage building. Guests enter at the corner of Albert Street and McDermot Avenue and climb about 25 stairs. A 6 x 7 foot service elevator runs from the rear alley loading dock, which sits about 3.5 feet above the alley, so it is set up for vendor load-in. If a guest has mobility needs, call us at (204) 400-5700 before booking and we will plan it together.

Can we bring our own photographer?

Absolutely. Every photographer is welcome. If you would like one booked with the venue, co-owner Mark Eadie has photographed Winnipeg events since 2014 and can quote both together.

A heritage wedding ceremony venue in downtown Winnipeg
